Laura Douglas
Principal Oboe
Laura started playing the oboe at the age of 14 and gained Grade 8 distinction and the DipABRSM performance diploma by the age of 18. Laura has gained extensive experience playing in orchestras, chamber ensembles and as a soloist and has participated in masterclasses with Nicholas Daniel and Roy Carter. Besides playing the oboe, Laura also plays piano and recorders and enjoys reading and ballroom dancing.
Marina Johnson
Marina started playing the oboe aged 12, alongside playing recorders and the piano. During her studies she played with Sevenoaks School orchestra, the Lydian Orchestra and with collegiate ensembles at Oxford University. As a member of various orchestras and choirs, Marina has been fortunate enough to partake in tours to Sweden and Germany, as well as playing in prestigious places such as the Royal Albert Hall. She joined the Collaborative Orchestra after moving to East London in 2013, where she also plays with a local church band. Besides playing the oboe, Marina is a sustainability consultant and occupies her free time doing triathlons, speaking Spanish and working for MAGNIFY magazine.
