What a busy year it’s been! Following our appearance on Britain’s Got Talent in 2016, various iterations of the Collaborative Orchestra and Singers were invited to perform on TV and radio, as well as at several private events.

In October 2016 we nipped up to Manchester to play the theme tune on Channel 4 TV’s “8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown” panel show. Here’s a video of our appearance during the 30-second “countdown” itself! (Photo at right.) We’ve also played a high-profile corporate event in London’s elegant Grosvenor Hotel.

In December we had fun playing the Barnes Charity Fashion Show outside London. We then travelled to Birmingham to serve as the ‘house orchestra’ for the annual “Ed Doolan’s Christmas Show“, recorded live — in the splendid (and sold-out) Birmingham Symphony Hall — for BBC Radio West Midlands! (It was broadcast on Christmas Day 2016, and the audio recording is available on BBC iPlayer.)

But we didn’t forget our commitment to public performance at home in London.  On October 22, 2016, at the Coronet in London, 500 lovely people came to see us play a programme of “symphonic rock”.  Here’s our fantastic combination of violin and electric guitar on “Storm” from Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons”:

In true “collaborative” fashion, we treated the crowd to short opening sets by four rock ‘n’ roll opening acts, all led by musicians who played or sang with the orchestra that night: Horatio James, We Lived in Cities, The Fantasticals and Chris Alastair.

And finally for 2016, we were honored to help St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wapping, East London, celebrate its Christmas 2016 service, in thanks for their steadfast rehearsal support over the years.

This past spring was equally busy, with a charity event at the Grosvenor House Hotel, a terrific gig at Union Chapel as the house orchestra for Persian artist Shahriyar’s “Tales of Rumi”, a fabulous trip to Munich to record an episode of the German TV show “It’s Showtime” (photo), and finally a return to our classical roots with a “Strictly Classical” concert in Wapping on May 27.
